October 11th saw the Cubs hold a recruitment drive which was very successful as we received lots of interest from both boys and girls across the Cubs age range of 4yrs old to 6 yrs old. The hour long training session was split into quadrants with a different activity in each quadrant. The Cubs were split into four small groups and they all participated and trained in each quadrant as they rotated around. This method of training allows each child the maximum time training, increases development, avoids boredom and allows the child to learn the skills required to play Rugby League at their own pace. It also allows the coaches more time with each child so we they can observe each child and help develop the individual. Please look at our photos as I think the happy faces are testament to a great day enjoyed by all...
The Cubs were also honoured to have Wolfie visit our training session and he got involved with the drill and managed to score an impressive try that even Kenny Penny would have been proud of… Wolves Player Ben Harrison also attended Shaw Street and whilst he didn’t watch our Cubs train this was due to his popularity with our existing two U7’s team. The U7’s had a full turnout of 30 kids all asking Ben for photos and autographs which unfortunately meant he missed the cubs... Personally, I think the Cubs preferred Wolfie..!!
Over the next few week all ages of Cubs will continue to train together, however we will start to break the older children away in order that we can develop their training to prepare them for playing the next season from March 2016 as the new Culcheth Eagles U7’s team
We always welcome any newcomers at any time and that is not only the youngster but mums & dads who might like to get involved with volunteering.
