The U7s travelled to Haydock today to play the unbeaten Haydock Warriors.

The Culcheth team had been working on running onto the ball, and passing drills at recent training sessions, and this development in the young Culcheth teams play was clear to be seen. The first session saw the game level at 3 points all, and was a closely fought encounter between two very good teams.

Some good individual runs, and good team defensive lines ensured the second and third sessions were equally close, with both teams drawing 7 points each at the end of the third session.

During the 4th session break, the Culcheth team were told to focus on their defensive line and to stop the Warriors from scoring, if they could do that, the Culcheth team were confident of scoring.

Yet again the young group of lads done the Coaches and parents proud, they stopped the Warriors attack twice in the last session, and scored two points themselves. Culcheth were leading 9-7 with a final attack from the Warriors proving to be a successful attack, ending the game 9-8 to Culcheth.

All of the Culcheth players deserved a trophy this day for their gladiator style performance, and for being the first team to beat the mighty Warriors this season. Felix received best tackler for an amazing 9 tackles, Harry C won most improved player, for his great defensive tackles and solo runs, and finally Ethan was awarded man of the match for his complete control of the game that also involved scoring two tries. Well done to all the Culcheth team.
