The Club was formed in 1940, but little is known about whom, where and when, except that matches were played on a pitch opposite Culcheth High School in Withington Avenue(where houses stand today). An old railway van was used as a changing room and was used regularly through the war years by the Royal Navy to play Rugby Union matches on.
But what we do know is that on Tuesday 21st August 1945 at the White Hart Hotel, on Sankey Street Warrington, a meeting of the Warrington and District Amatuer Rugby Football League was held, at this meeting eight teams were asked to reform a new league following the end of WWII. Those being: Lancashire Steel, Latchford Albion, Monks Hall, Culcheth, Rylands Recreation, Eagle Sports, Belle Vue Juniors and Langworthy Juniors
The first games were played on th 8th September, but first a friendly game was played, Culcheth v Rest of the League, the game was played at Culcheth the week before the league commenced. In the Culcheth team was a certain Gerry Helme(see past players) and Frank Lee, both players went on to sign for Warrington, Culcheth ran out winners by a score of 16 - 3
Culcheth had good success in both the League and the Miller Cup competition which was run on a league format. Mains was a good goal kicking fullback, with Brown, Charnley, Riley, Stirrup(see past players) as well as Helme and Lee.
